It would be nice if they could still do something based on gut instinct once in a while instead of trying to be everything to everyone.
The focus group approach works well if your basic business plan is based on the assumption that your customers are idiots. Everybody ends up making the same stuff and focusing on the same market with exception of targeting different income levels based on superficial features and service. The result is more of the same not any true choices.
SAAB should be positioned as GMs high end European car division and focus on the qualities people expect in that sort of vehicle (excellent handling, saftey, high quality, long product life expectancy).
GM already has enough divisions producing SUVs. People need to recognize, like it or not, that SAAB is now part of a larger car company. SAAB does not need to produce models for all segments to be viable.
