The drive to Trollhaten would be about 4 hours without taffic. It may take you 1.5 hours to get out of Stockholm though....

Trollhaten is closer to Gothenburg, perhaps you could take a train to Gothenburg and rent a car. But, please note, that the Saab factory at Trollhaten is nothing more than a car factory in the outskirts of a very small town. The scenery is very nice, like the Upper Pennisula of Michigan or Quebec, but nothing to get really excited about. And, the Saab factory is not set up for tourists. You will see nothing more than the outside of buildings and parking lots. You can stop at a gas station and get a Hot Dog with Mayo or Mashed Potatoes which is the national favoriite fast food in Sweden.

I am not ripping on Sweden as I really like it there. Go to Sweden for the scenerey, camping or the nice cafes and food in Gothenburg. Do not go to Sweden to see the Saab factory as you will be let down. The same would happen if you rolled into Turin, Detroit or Nagoya.

The only car factory with a nice tourist set-up is the VW factory in Wolfsburg. They have the Autostadt museum which is pretty cool. The HYATT hotel there is nice as well; kinda like space oddessy 2001 with a nasty German Sushi Bar and aluminum trimmed rooms with Berber carpet and bad plastic flower. Wolfsburg has all the charm of the nice part of Toledo (Ohio that is). Actually, Toledo is way more fun and nicer. What am I getting at? I am rambeling. Sorry.

Save your money and time and go to a nice Suana in Finland or chill- out somewhere in the forest of Sweden. Do not bother with the Saab factory.
