in the NG900S and Volvo 850 I use valvoline or Castrol (dino) in a 10w-30 or 10w-40. These aren't turbo-charged and hardly get stressed here in Detroit. I change it every 5k miles, neither burns oil.
My dad has an OLD e-30 325e with over 400K miles on it. His oil of choice, after the first 100k miles whatever was cheapest at Walmart. He changes it every 5k miles.
On the e-30 M3, Mobil-1 20w-50 all the way. That motor demands a high quality synthetic, kind of like the classic spg's. I would consider Redline or Amsoil but since the engine is basically a racing engine it BURNS oil (approx 2 qts at the last track weekend). Mobil-1 is the best optionfor me: excellent protection, a price I can live with, and I can get it just about anywhere.
