Some questions for you...
- Did you drive the Xterra and if so did you enjoy the drive?
- What will you be using the car for... commuting, road trips, skiing vacations...?
- Is the Xterra 4 cyl or 6? I thought for auto trans it was gutless with the 4 cyl. (as I recall, it was a couple of years ago).
- Do you expect to want to haul stuff? Go off roading?
- Do you expect to pick people up in your new car or SUV? (Wish I'd thought of that before I got my Eclipse... it's fun getting my 81 year old mom in and out of it).
- Did you ask your Saab dealer for his best deal on the 9-3? Does your $5k difference reflect that?
(Also factor in the difference that gas will cost you--probably $2-400 per year or $1-2k more over 5 years for the SUV.)
These are two very different vehicles, but you won't go wrong in the fun department either way. I think the coolness factor of the Xterra has faded a little, but then that's partly why you're getting a good deal. I always had good luck with Nissans (Drove an '87 Sentra 140k miles and 96 Pathfinder 60k miles).
Good luck and have fun!
Karen
