First, I'm unlikely to buy a Corvette, although I do like the C6 and C7 models. They finally got the lines right, to my eyes, anyway. Small side window and poor rear view aside, I do like the lines.
However....
I found that at 6'2", I barely fit in a C7. The top of the windshield is too low and and if I put a helmet on to do a track day I would not fit with the roof on. About like a Miata. And if I were to get a Vette I would definitely do a few track days. I don't know how I would fit in a C6.
But they are a performance bargain, especially used, and that's worth something, especially since most of them are driven by guys who don't push the envelope and use them for posing. Me, I may be 65 but I know what the loud pedal is for, like getting sideways, and how to have some fun.
The other sub-thread here is about who is buying older cars.
I go to local car shows just to look and LOTS of younger guys are there, in Camaros, Mustangs and almost anything that can be riced up. There's a lot of nice workmanship, but none of them do anything for me. These guys only like new metal.
And the old "muscle cars" are nice to look at but are just garage queen toys. They have a nostalgic look and feel, but are ridiculously over valued. But there's a sucker born every minute, so for a while at least, there'll be people who will pay 40- or 50-Large for a "60s or '70s toy with lousy handling and mediocre performance. But then, I didn't like those cars when they came out when I was a teenager.
That said, I'd spend serious money (if I had it) for an older Porsche 911, so each to his own.
But in the meantime, I'll hang onto my '96 9K semi-Aero and enjoy it.
