Ok. Here is my delimea -- Since moving to NJ I realize that I will put on 100 miles a day commuting. Thats about 25K miles a year, maybe more. Current car is a 99 Viggen which I am now commuting Philly to Jersey City everyday at almost 170 miles a day. I love my Viggen, but its not the greatest commuter car, especially with potholes a plenty bending all my rims.
Not sure what I will do with the Viggen, maybe make it the 3rd car or trade it, but I need to find a car that it won't pain me to pile on the miles and can get around in the snow for weekend ski trips and commuting in the snow. Here is what I was thinking either new or slightly used:
Note: only criteria -- must have 4 doors, leather (no cloth), available in manual transmission, max cost ~$23K, less is better.
01-04 Passat 1.8T w/4Motion 5spd
00-04 Honda Accord EX (4cyl) 5spd
03-04 Saab 9-3 Linear no frills 5spd
02-03 Saab 9-5 Linear 5spd (hard to find)
01-04 Nissan Xterra no frills 5spd (leather added at dealer or kit)
03-04 Subaru Legacy AWD 5spd
01-04 Jetta GL or GLS (hard to find leather)
I really want a low maintenance car with cheap tires etc. and one I don't care gets beat up. I would like a Saab, but it might not make the most sense in this case.
Thoughts? Other considerations?
