avoid the first couple of model years, as they tend to have issues to work out. I personally would look for one of the newer engines. (3.7/2.9 vs the 3.5/2.8) basically the same MPG as the smaller engines with a noticeable increase in power.
Mine was actually an Isuzu i-290, which is exactly the same as a colorado, but with the same equipment cost me 2-3k less new. I had mine about 2 1/2 years. bought it was I was still single (well just dating my wife) to when she was pregnant with our first kid. Sold it because we couldn't get an infant carrier in it. The only problem I had with it was an ongoing issue with the TPMS. I think one of my sensors was bad, but the dealer refused to replace it. They just "re calibrated it"
The Isuzu i-290, i-370, i-280, i-350, chevy colorado, gmc canyon are all the same truck.
