Even with our very accomodating ECU's, shops around Denver have related a number of piston failures in NG boosted cars operating in the mountains. Flatland operation may not have the same result. Possible robust or full throttle use on prolonged hillclimbs without the cooler combustion temps provided by 91 or higher octane when lower octane fuels are substituted may be a factor. 9000 Aeros had high altitude specific ECU's available for installation as cars moved into the area. My 95 has a Jak tune and just flies on 91 Octane.
