The turbo-x handles completely different than the FWD 9-3ss and has one of the most advanced AWD systems available. Lots of torque to the rear wheels and rear eLSD means it can drive sideways just like the STi. You can easily modify it for more power if the ~300 hp isn't enough.
As for looks, you must be the first person I've hear yet that described a Subaru as anything other than downright ugly. The new 9-3 is a good looking car, especially the sport wagon!
By the way I'm not a 9-3SS owner trying to justify buying the car. I own a heavily modified 9000 and don't plan to get a Turbo-X, but I am lusting after it's AWD system...
