I had the older Toyo's that the T1R's replaces (I think T1S??) & they were excellent at the track & also on the street, probably my favorite tire but zero experience with the newer T1R's.
Michelin makes awesome tires.... they cost a lot but they do wear better & last longer then the cheaper stuff out there
Reading your post about learning you are going at it the correct way. Learn on street tires, you will understand what your car is telling you much quicker & also safer this way. I purchased the Dunlop Direzza's for my Viggen & I plann on using them on the street & also the track. I have never used R tires on my viggen but I did 10-15 schools in my SPG with track tires & also a few on street tires. I do want to try R's on my viggen one of these days but only doing 1 or 2 schools a year it's not needed. I really like how much info street tires give you when you are at/past the limit which you can't say about R's
I went more by price then by what is the best tire..... So Dunlop's are what I have & I figure if I eat them up in a weekend I am out $500 for a set of tires vs $500 for 2 tires :)
