valve jobs on a saab head- ever needed?

Just curious and looking for feedback from you motor guys... I never see any posts about anyone doing a valve job on these motors, except maybe for performance related reasons (stronger springs, etc). I've seen a fair number of people redo head gaskets, particularly the 90's cars nowadays, but no one ever mentions a visit to the machine shop or the valves being done. They just inquire as to how to line up the cams :-)
Do these things just last forever?
