There are many things that can be done, some which you can and probably have no choice but to do your self.

Much depends on what you are prepared to spend.

You can increase the boost pressure with a 500 - 800 US$ modified ECU, which will produce major power. Or you can get a very significant increase in power and driveablilty with a manual boost controller for $35. Or make the MBC an inexpensive stepping stone...

Either choice requires other changes. Get the Saab Sports Stainless exhaust system. Install a K&N 33-2663 air cleaner. Modify the air box. Remove the turbo compressor discharge silencer from within the aluminum pipe that goes to the intercooler (down ar the bottom of the rad). Grind out the 3/8" step ID reduction at the small end of the throttle body transition casting.

Then there are suspension mods. These can be quite expensive. Some lowering springs are too harsh for some and not suitable for the road conditions in some areas. The steering and torque steer can be a problem. Steering can get very mushy after 100000 miles.

Tires are very important!

Search and read the NG900, 9-3 and performance BB's

Keep your engine in good shape. Use better filters and Mobil 1. Use good hi octane fuels. Use techron concentrate in your fuel 3x year. Use NGK plugs only, use heat range 6, the heat range 7 plugs are not hot enough and get carbon fouled.
