If you do this off boost performance and economy will suffer - the best way is to bend the stop tab on the vacuum capsule lever which limits the amount of retard (the red box apc upgrade has this) - this way you will only get the extra retard on boost. I run mine at 18deg at idle but with the extra retard via the above method I get very good off boost performance and still have a couple of degrees extra retard than stock. Ultimatley by trying to sustain boost by dialing in more retard is like chasing your tail as more retard equals higher cylinder temps which in turn brings on pre-ignition etc and also a retarded ignition engine is not very efficient or powerfull - you may get the boost but it's not the same as power!
