Justin has a big point-
Here's my story:
I currently own a modified 87' SPG that runs 235 on the dyno. Last year I bought a 1990 2dr hatch 900S for fun. After spending a month restoring the pretty red paint (it had sat under a pine tree for two years, ouch), fixing the brakes and checking the compression, I decided to modify it for fun. The exhaust system already had a hole in the catalytic converter so I replaced the whole system with the free-flow for the NA16V. Then I replaced the disgusting OEM filter box with the new K+N filter (the one that is cone-shaped). The injectors were a little dirty but a some STP did the trick. Then I replaced the OEM sparks with Bosch Platinum 4, which really smoothed out the idle. Because of the possiblilty for stud breakage, I decided not to put on the upgraded exhaust manifold until I was ready to replace the stock head with the SD one. Haven't done that yet, but already my car is a LOT faster than it was stock. And guess what I beat? A 900T. A few weeks ago, I was coming home from a movie with my girlfriend when I pulled up next to a 2dr 900T. I asked the guy if he wanted to race for fun, and he said sure. Right off the line, my car pulled ahead by a full length. As his turbo spooled to max, he pulled up closer and closer, but by the next light, I was still a foot ahead. So there. Not even an upgraded manifold and it can be done. Besides, 900S's DO have a lot more low end and reliable power, plus the lack of a turbo behind the exhaust makes for an incredible roar at full throttle, which, sadly to say, my SPG can't produce. Though my SPG is a hell of a lot faster, the 900S feels lighter and is fun to drive. Plus the lack of a bunch of turbo crap in the engine bay makes the engine look nice and neat if clean, which I did.
That's my story, so stop with the NA criticism, you guys rely on turbo too much. Nathan
