Heat Shields for intake Posted by frank [Email] (#2509) [Profile/Gallery] (more from frank) on Mon, 23 May 2005 09:54:59 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am looking into upgrading my downpipe (from airfilter to turbo) and the intake pipe (from intercooler to engine), plus air filter.
As I was inspecting my car, having read about the advantage of the air temp relative to bigger pipes and bigger intercooler, I noticed that these pipes are pretty close and exposed to the engine heat. Feeling the downpipe inlet to turbo after driving my car - it was quite hot, and so was the intake pipe, especially at the rubber hose coming out of the intercooler. Both are exposed to alot of engine heat.
It occurred to me that a heat shield might be quite an advantage to decrease both incoming air temp to the turbo and prevent heat up at teh intercooler outlet.
Anybody notice this and agree with this logic? Any heat shields avaialble. Seems like a low cost way to reduce air temp - thus increase performance.
