Thanks for the reply and input. Unfortunately I think my problem isn't exactly the same as what was the case on your car. In general my car starts just fine. After running in hot weather the car will eventually start to run rough and not want to idle. It will die but start right up again and run fine. Sometimes it will start to run rough again in just a few minutes after restart, other times after a long driving period after restarting from the initial rough running stage. It is really I think a fuel starvation problem most likely from the fuel in the carb bowl vaporizing instead of staying in liquid state causing the float to drop and the car 'thinks' it doesn't have fuel typical of vapor lock.
I should mention in temps of about 72 degress or below the car runs absolutely perfect.
We have a pertronix unit installed and timing is set correctly. Non ethanol fuel has always been put in the car since I've owned it and the fuel filter is new and clean and the mechanical fuel pump also new.
When running in cool weather it is perfect. It only exhibits a problem in hot weather which unfortunately for me is most of the time here in FL.
