Finally some good news! As you suggested I loosened all the intake bolts and nuts and then re-tightened them in stages according to the manual. All good! The whistling noise is gone and the car idles just like it did before the engine came out. Again, I am in your debt for the help. Once I get the nose back on I'll take her out and test the clutch repair fully and will report back here.
