The Viggen suspension is high performance firm. It is noticeable at speeds
under 60, but not at higher speeds, but the stability and tracking are far
superior at speed. I don't know where the roads are not bad in the US
anymore. The stabilizer bars were kept the same, stiffer in fact than the
Viggen, so it corners with almost no roll at all. There are some tight
treacherous old roads near where I live, which I can now drive 30% faster,
and with much more feeling of control and security.
The Saab SUV was slated to be US made, and using the same platform as the
excessively ugly Pontiac Aztec. However it has been canceled. And, SUV
sales are dropping off at least here in California thankfully - too many
people talking on cell phones, loosing control, and running them at 85
right over the center divider. A Saab SUV is not on the list of expected
new models. However, from what I read between the lines a re-badged Opel is
likely the next new Saab you'll see. And, with the 9-3 replacement is two
years off, so it's the last chance for the Scania made 4 cylinder turbo.
It'll just be re-worked GM/Lotus engines thereafter.

Regards, David B. Brooks
