Re: Cell Phone Antenna

I had a Qualcomm QCP-860 (Great phone!) hands-free car kit installed by
AirTouch (now Verizon) here in San Diego. The tech at first didn't think
he was going to be able to use the mic in the headliner or stereo speakers
for audio. I said, 'No way, my service manager said it's a snap to use
them.' After speaking with my Saab service manager, the tech was able to
install the kit making use of the mic and speakers. He installed the
antenna right on top of the third brake light in order to avoid the radio
antenna embedded in the rear window. It blocks a little bit of the brake
light, but oh well. Unfortunately, the location selection didn't fully
payoff, as the AM reception is degraded significantly on weak
stations. There's no effect on FM stations. I hear no wind noise from the
antenna. Although the interference with AM is annoying, I can live with it
because the AM station I listen to most of the time blasts at 50,000 watts
from L.A. and the antenna doesn't affect it.
