Owner Loyalty Rebates

I find it interesting that Gary was offered an owner loyalty
rebate, recently. I was offered one last year, but not this
time.  I wonder how they determine who gets the offer and
when. 

I took advanage of one in 1989 to buy a base 900 and was
allowed to apply it in addition to dealer discount.  But
when I attempted to use one in 1998, I was told that I would
have to pay list price for the vehicle, then apply the
rebate.  I declined.  My rebate offer in 1998 was for $2000
and I applied it to a vehicle listing at $16,995. My offer
last year was for $1000, and it could NOT be applied to base
9-3s.  I guess it just depends on how sales are going at the
time.
