Thought I'd make a responce to my own questions...or at least a partial
response.  Car hasn't acted up since Jan 2.  I did obtain  the service
manual section covering engine management for the 2.0 turbo engine
(Trionic, Section #2:7, part #356733, for 1994 & newer 900 2.0L turbo).  I
indicates the car does have a fuel pump relay, plus a 'main relay' that
activates the ignition cassette.  These are behind the lower dash panel,
under the steering wheel.  These are not readily accessable, but not bad if
you have the time to take panel off.  I suspect one or both these are not
'ingaging', causing my occasional no-start, but not sure why at the moment.
There is a momentary pre-injection of fuel when you first turn the ignition
key to 'on' (ignition on, not starter). If you listen real close you can
hear the pump run for a couple seconds, indicating the pre-injection (and
relays) are working. So far, since getting this manual, they have been
working!

I can recommend this manual section to those out there who like to gain
some knowledge of there car and not be completely at mercy of the dealer.
It's a pretty good manual but perhaps a bit hard to grasp for us older
points/condenser/carburetor mechanics! :)  There is a statement on the
first page tho that leaves me a bit apprehensive...it says 'since no
production cars were availiable at the time this manual was compiled, the
particulars in it may be subject to change'!!!  I just purchased it new, so
I assume it does actually apply to current/actual cars!
