I have owned and worked Saabs for the last 28 years. When I have required
someone to work on my vehicles I usually seek out trustworthy independent
shops. So over the years I have had very few encounters with dealers.

In April of last year my trusty 18-year-old 900 would not pass Pennsylvania
State Inspection (critical frame corrosion) so I had to quickly search for
a replacement. I decided to buy a 9000. Unfortunately, the great shop I
patronize in Wilmington, DE that also sells Saabs had no inventory in my
price range. In fact, there was a general dearth of used Saabs at that
time.
I was finally able to find a 94 9000 CSE 70 miles away at Fred Bean Saab
in Doylestown, PA. Beans has a bunch of non-Saab dealerships in the
counties surrounding Philadelphia and recently established this Saab
dealership. I bought the car, which came with a basic used car warranty.

Without going into great detail I would like to report that the car had a
major failure within three months. A six-year-old car is at risk of
failures; that is not the issue. I want SaabNet subscribers to know that
Beans was extremely reluctant deal with the issue, misdiagnosed the
problem, and broke a promise of a cash settlement (made directly by Mr.
Fred Beans to me). Letters written to Mr. Beans requesting that he make
good on his promise were summarily ignored.

I am not a person who makes a practice of flaming people or businesses but
I feel other Delaware Valley Saab enthusiasts should be given a heads up
when dealers go over the line.

I would be happy to share details and correspondence off-list with anyone
who might be interested. I urge Bucks, Montgomery, Hunterdon and Mercer
County residents to patronize one of the many alternate providers in our
area.
