I have experienced the same problem in two 9k:s. The long actuation rod
has a bend in it which in time straightens and the rod length
increases. Bend it back to the spec length and the interior handle will
work again.

I had an identical sounding problem on my 9000S. I replaced the door latch
plate (the part that locks around the post). This part comes off easily, only
two screws. It has a black plastic inside that may look damaged as mine did.
I picked up a used one at a junkyard for about $9. Voila! <p>Please excuse
the lack of precise technical terms, but since you appear to have studied the
problem as I did, I'll bet you figure out what I am talking about.
