Considering 9-3 & Vibration

I'm very excited to have found this list. Wondering if anyone can help
shed some light. I've been a Honda-head for the past 15 years and have
been very happy with their cars. So has everyone else in my family.
Same goes for Toyota.

But ... it seems like nobody makes hatchbacks anymore! So I've been
looking and looking. It seems like the only candidates are:

Toyota RAV4 / Honday CRV
Volkswagon GTI
Mercedes C230
Saab 9.3

I'm not really into mini-SUVs, think the GTI is ugly, and worry about
the C230's viability as a potential family car / future production
(recall the BMW 318ti).

I've been leaning towards the 9.3, but quite honestly have some concerns
about Saab reliability. My Acura has been rock solid for the past 12
years, but is just a bit small and showing some signs of age.

Any comments / input would be greatly appreciated.

I've seen the occasional article about this online. Today, I test drove
a 2002 9-3 5dr. Nice car. But there was definitely some vibration
between 55 and 70mph. The dealer said it's because they sometimes get
cars with improperly balanced wheels.

I find that hard to believe. More concerning is the fact that this
seems to be a chronic problem in every few cars to roll off the assembly
line.

It happens in my 1990 Acura Integra too ... but I need new tires and
still have the original shocks with 113k miles on them.

I'd love to hear feedback from people, since this is currently keeping
me from buying a Saab.

Thanks all,

David Topper

PS. Anyone know about lemon-laws in VA?
