NOT TRUE!!!!

The hub that the rotor actually bolts to is different.

The way the caliper bolts to the spindle, the inside friction surface on
both ventilated & solid discs must be on the same plane. The 'hat' part
of the rotor that bolts to the hub is about the same thickness for
solids & ventilated rotors, so in order to make the rotors fit, they use
a slightly longer hub with the mating surface moved outward. This puts
the rotor right where it's supposed to be.

I always recommend to someone interested in the retrofit to obtain the
complete spindle - ball joint to ball joint - from an 86/87 turbo. That
way you know you've got all the right parts...
