Saab uses the ISO type interface (ISO 9141 to be exact). Any Saab 900 from
94 and later is OBD-II compatible and can use an ISO interface to read and
clear engine codes. The '96 and later models implement the full OBD-II spec
with the second oxygen sensor, fuel tank pressure sensor, and enhanced engine
misfire detection.Ê
You don't say what model year your 'P.O.S.' car is but if it's '96 and later
then it should be OBD-II compatible. The other issue is that different car
makers use different interfaces. Most European brands use the same ISO
standard that Saab does. GM uses VPW, and Ford uses PWM. Check

I recommend that you check out the following website for a good (and
reasonably priced) interface. You can buy the ISO interface for your Saab
along with the VPW or PWM module for your 'P.O.S.'

http://www.obd-2.com

And here is a guide to tell you what type of interface is used in your other
car...
