Leaky Clutch Hydraulic Line?

I am a half-ass Saab mechanic trying to help a friend who just bought a Saab.
He's 700 miles away, though; that's the rub.

The car had a new clutch put on some months back, and there is a problem
right now that sure smells like it's related to that operation:

> The ONLY problems are you have to reverse gently or gear
> slips. I was told that the clutch was not positioned properly. The car
leaks break fluid, I was quoted $49 to seal the leak.

Does anyone here see a lightbulb on this explanation? I'm don't know about
the positioning, but it smells to me like the line from the reservoir to the
clutch may be leaking?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

B.
