Leads me to think that the fuel pick-up in on the left side of the tank. maybe yours is defective or not low enough. Easy acess by "unclipping" your wooden trunk floor panel (in front of the spare tire cover) and popping off the left circular cap on the tank. this should reveal the top of the fuel pump/pick-up. unplug/retract/inspect/fix/replace! Check me on which circular cap is pump and which is gauge. Have Fun....dont smoke. woof.
