Subject: Saab 900i automatic stalling from stationary

Last posted 5 December - no replies received - am trying again! I am a Saab owner in England. I have a 900i automatic (1990, red, 3-door) which I bought three years ago. It has now done 77000 miles (about 123 000 km). Ever since I have owned it I have had a problem which no-one seems able to cure, not even the dealer I bought it from. When reading what follows, remember that it is an *automatic*. This is what happens: I am at a red light, or stationary in stop-go traffic (or some such situation). Right foot on brake. Light goes green. Right foot moves to accelerator pedal, applies pressure. Engine falters or stalls completely - but only occasionally. No, it's not the tickover. That's the first thing everyone says. All the engine settings have been double-checked by a Saab dealer. And the worst thing is it doesn't *always* happen, just randomly. And it will never do it for the dealer. It only happens from stationary, never if the car is moving. You have to drive the car in urban traffic for an hour or so and it will probably happen. Anyone who can tell me a surefire proven cure gets a prize. I'd even like to hear from someone who has the same problem, even if they haven't solved it! I'm fed up with being laughed at as the man who can stall an automatic! Looking forward to hearing from you. Robert Clark (near Bristol, England)
