Thinking of buying a SAAB however am a little nervous of gearbox failure. I've just spoken to an owner who has had the gearbox on his 2.0se Eco replaced at less than 100,000 miles by SAAB, at a cost of GB1,792!! Apparently, and this is according to SAAB City in London, the gearbox is an 4HP22, used in a number of other vehicles, and they expect to have to reeplace after 90k-120k miles. This seems to indicate either a weak point of questionable practice. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this. Could the gearbox have been rebuilt instead and should you, if buying a used car with higher mileage, look for one where this work has been done. They say that the car will do 250,000 miles plus but appraently not on less than two gearboxes. I await the groups reaction with interest. Jonathon
