Problem is, Saab would have been out of business years ago without GM cash and that's the truth unfortunately. If GM had a plan like Ford does with Jaguar and Aston, things might be different. However, if you look at the 9-5s V6 performance, it's pretty outstanding compared to other cars offering similar displacement. Quicker than 528i, C- Class, A6, GS300, ES300, etc... Plus, the engine is smooth and feels much more powerful than you would guess from 200hp. Problem is, for Saab to survive in today's market, it must expand its owner base -- that means for markets like the U.S. and Germany, a V6 is a necessity. For Saab lovers there will be a 9-5 Aero 2.3 turbo arriving in about a year.
