David, The stiffness in your power steering, when cold is called "morning sickness". It is a symptom that your power steering rack will be needing replacement in the near future. Sometimes flushing and changing the power steering fluid can help temporarily, but eventually you will need to have it changed. Once you do have the rack changed, flush the power steering fluid about once every two years. My Saabtech friend has an 87 9000T. He changes the power steering fluid annually. Over 196,000 miles and almost 12 years and he is still using the original power steering rack. Make sure you use a GM compatible power steering fluid. The wrong type can ruin seals and cause leakage.
