Subject: Primary drive chain.



Dear list,

I used to own a 1983 900 which was great, particularly after the head was
rebuilt.
The car had about 125,000 miles on it, then the primary drive chain let go
and wrecked the drive case and everything in it.

I'm thinking about buying another Saab but I am, cautious about the drive
chain thing.  Saab at the time told me this was a rare occurrence and so on
but I'm still wondering.
What's the real life expectancy and cost for the drive chain / tensioned and
so on?
I'd be looking at another high mileage vehicle and would therefore like to
be able to factor this into the purchase price.
