While my vehicle is warming steering has little or no power assist. Its not as bad as no power steering, I know the feeling from a broken pump belt, but it is definitely noticeable. Looking in my trusty Bentley manual the corrective action is to replace the steering rack. I have verified that the fluid is full and the belt is turning the pump and at correct tension. My question, is there any other way to verify a bad steering rack before I replace it? It doesn't seem particularly difficult and I will take the opportunity to replace the tie rods, align the front end and change front shock absorbers, but I want to be certain to correct the problem. Thanks. -- Bart L.
