You need to tell us what year 9000. The 86-89 2.0L and the 90-98 2.3L cars are similar, but they do have separate issues. I have an 87 9000S I bought used with 145,890 miles. The previous owner replaced the lower motor mounts, valve cover gasket, fixed a power steering fluid leak and replaced the right rear caliper and pads....The first year I had the car I replaced both mufflers, the a/c compressor, crankshaft pulley (harmonic balancer), shifter coupler(for 5 spd), upper motor mounts, lower control arm bushings. That was about $1500. This last year I replaced the main tensioner pulley and the A/C tenisoner pulley. I have 184,532 miles on the car now. If you have a 2.3L with the DI ignition, there are other things to worry about. The DI cassette is a weak spot until the 93 model year and the late 90 - 93 models seem to have problems with head gaskets, and try to avoid the traction control system in the 93 year model.
