Subject: 900 Aero LPT Various

Just bought a late 91 900 Aero LPT with 69k on the clock and slowly getting to know it. So far pretty pleased but a few minor things which I would appreciate feedback on. 1) At the bottom left hand side of the instrument binnacle, there is a gap of about 1cm between the perspex cover and the plastic part of the dash. You can see the wiring beneath if you peer in but it is not obvious at all when looking straight at it from the normal driving position. The dash is in very good shape otherwise so I wander if it has just distorted in the sun (given that it seems to be made of pretty low quality plastic) or if this is evidence that the dash has been out and not put back together very well. 2) The radio crackles quite a bit on the move when tuned to FM - poor earthing? 3) Where is the engine serial number stamped? I looked pretty hard for it at the weekend but just could not locate it. The manual suggests it is at the front somewhere but there is so much pipework in that area that if it is there it is obscured. 4) I have so far used normal 95 octane unleaded and it seems fine, apart from perhaps slight knocking around 3500 rpm in first. Would any of you recommend I try 98 octane superunleaded or is this just a waste of money? 5) The rear bumper and bumper side extensions have been sprayed a lighter shade of grey than standard. I have reskinned the rear bumper with a new skin and now the bumper doesn't quite match the extensions. I have heard from a Saab specialist in Huddersfield that they cost a fortune. Anyone in the UK have any idea where I might find some in good condition for a reasonable amount? 6) The front grill has lost its chrome (or maybe never had any?). Is this common in a car of this age? Thanks in advance for any insights you can offer Martin
