AFAIK, there is an upgrade to the LPT engine, but ONLY on 2001 model onwards. It is similar to the old upgrade for the LPT engine in the 95. It takes it up to about 192bhp or something like that. In the UK it costs about £600-800 - can't quite remember, but it's certainly less than £1000. Because the 2001 shares the engine with the entry 95, all they need to do is tewak the ECU and a few other bits, and hey presto, one fully blown engine. My car is one of the last 2000 93's so I can't have it done, so the only other option is Hirsch tuning or something like that - they tune the LPT up to around 230bhp, but only if you're prepared to spend thousands on new exhausts etc. Hope this helps.
