Is it stiff to move with the engine off and the car stationary? If not, then it's probably the clutch not disengaging properly. I doubt any internal bearings etc would seize - they'd be lubricated by the gearbox oil. Far more likely is the external linkage - exposed to muck. Often it's just the ball joint at the bottom of the gearlever.
