I have recently bought (in the UK, but I don't suppose it matters much) a 1995 3.0 V6 9000CSE. I bought it mainly for the quality of the seats, having recently had major back problems. It's my first Saab and so far I think it's excellent. My only disappointment is that the performance isn't as good as I expected. I haven't done any "scientific" testing but seat-of-pants feel is that it's slower than the Mazda 626 (2.5 V6) that it replaced, yet the engine is bigger and has significantly more power and torque. Even granted that the Saab might be a bit heavier, I'd have expected it to be faster rather than slower. It seems most sluggish around the 45-60 mph mark, which is a pity as this is where you generally want a bit of get-up-and-go for overtaking. Is this normal for this car? Would I be likely to significantly improve matters by having the car professionally tuned, or perhaps even re-chipped? Thanks - Paul Douglas paulnopsamlasfamilynospam.au.com
