I know you have had the answer to your question but I find it quite interesting that you identify the same two issues that i found on the SAAB I have just purchased - a 91 900s Convertible. I can concur that my ABS and Brake fluid lights always come on initially, and mine take about 30 seconds to go out. I figured out this was charging an accumulator when I heard the pump running when I switched on the ignition. You should find that the lights will go out even if you don't actually start the car but have the ignition on indicating that the accumulator has charged up. My cruise control has also packed up although the indicator and fuse are also ok - guess I need to check my micro switches. Like you I thought it was the vacuum control. By the way - i have just ordered the Bentley manual - do you find it a worthwhile purchase ?
