Subject: Re: Choke mechanism on saab 90

Hi, The front half of the Saab 90 is mechanically the same as a Saab 99 1983/84 (i.e. the Finnish Valmet-manufactured Saabs), though the Saab 90 may be using a Hall effect transducer instead of points in the distributor . . . can also mention that Saab more or less grafted the back end of a 900 2d sedan onto the 99 front end to create the Saab 90, but you've probably figured that out already ;-) but this means that the choke cable assembly from a Saab 99 83-84, and possibly earlier models of the same, will fit in your dashboard. The 900 choke (located between the seats) won't. You might be able to avoid buying new by visiting a wrecker, but be sure to grease the cable if corroded. Regards, Robert, Gothenburg (1983 99 GL R.I.P, 1983 900 GL still going strong, 2001 A4 TS - nice car too) fgb wrote: > My choke mechanism on my saab 90 of 1985 is broken. > The black fixing-ring to fix the mechanism on de dashboard broke of. > Does anyone know wich other cable can be use on a saab 90, the saab > 900 mechanism does not look the same. > > Thanks > > Geert Belgium
