I've driven my fair share of rear-wheel drive cars in the snow, and I don't think it's as bad as people make out (for one thing it's a lot easier to do a handbrake 180 in car which doesn't have the handbrake acting on the front wheels!). But in any case I also have an old 4-wheel drive Sidekick parked out back for those very rare days when it would be necessary. :-)
