Rob, All good points. However, you should definitely get with the program and get EZ Pass. A. EZ Pass is cheaper. I believe a $50 deposit is required and you get ~10% discount on tolls. Assuming you don't live in the NYC area (where all the tunnels and bridges use EZ Pass), driving 570 miles on the Thurway (285 each way), is about $16.90. If you drive more this more than twice a year, you would use the entire balance annually and get a retun on your investment of more than 10% per year. This is more than you'd get if your money sat in your checking account. B. Unless you really relish those moments waiting to see the toll booth collector's frustrated face, this will speed up your trip. You will also save gas since you won't be sitting in traffic as much. Oh, and when you order the EZ Pass, don't listen to them if they tell you that your Saab needs an outdoor tag. It does not.
