I've now been told by the dealer that I will have to wait until after the 6000 mile service to see the real fuel consumption. It's a bit annoying that I have to wait several months to see if this is true. My average has now dropped to around 34MPG with mixed driving. It seems most are doing better than this, but still not getting near the figures quoted in the brochure. The brochure figure for Highway driving is 56.5. The standard EC extra-urban test includes acceleration/deceleration cycles up to about 80MPH (http://www.vcacarfueldata.org.uk/e_howtouse2.htm) so I can't see how the brochure can claim 56.5 MPG for this when nobody else seems to get near this even at a constant moderate motorway speed. I feel a bit misled.
