I enjoy hearing that someone can have savings like that by investing some time and effort. And thank you again for posting the pictures. Price quotes I have gotten for a professional rebuild were US$2,800, or about 1,800 GBP, triple what they were asking from you! I assume that the cost you quote doesn't include a new clutch kit, gaiter boots, or any of the other parts that would be replaced when the transmission comes out. The clutch kit alone costs anywhere from $250 to $400 (160 to 270 GBP) here, depending on where it is purchased. The slave cylinder is another $130. Please correct me if I am wrong on this assumption because I plan to be in Europe in December and I could easily wait until then to get the parts if it means a 70% savings!
