It can be a wonderful unit when working correctly. The cables typically need replacement after 50K miles. In other respects, its the same as the '98 and later clutch. If the clutch in one of these cars is exceedingly hard to push that would indicate a problem. Clutch replacement is not cheap. I'd also suggest that the OP look at the records and see if the upper idler pulley has been replaced. This and the serpentine belt should be done around 50K miles. It is _not_ an expensive job. Note that the car has a timing *chain* and it should not need replacement any time soon. Check for any oil leaks under the engine or tranny or at the front right corner of the engine (when facing the engine). Bob
