It's not repairable with the rack in the car, and if you're going to go to the trouble of removing it, it's much easier (and usually cheaper) to just replace it. If you're going to keep it say another year, shop around for a rack (you can get them for as little as £150, but last one I bought cost me £180), and either fit it yourself if you're handy with a spanner, or find somewhere reasonably cheap. Total cost shouldn't be more than say £300. -- Grunff
