Subject: Desperately Seeking Aero (or Aero Angst): PARTS CRISIS Melbourne
Waaaaaaaaaaa! My friend borrowed my SAAB 900 Aero 89 without
permission, crashed it into the car of a CFA volunteer in my small
town, and then left the scene of the accident!!!
This was almost two years ago. He was, of course extremely
appologetic...while he was asking me to tell the police that _I_ was
driving the car, which of course I couldn't do - what with the
penalties being a $20,000 fine and loss of licence for 2 years.
Since then I have lost my job, without the car I live 26 kms from the
nearest train! 13 kms from the nearest bus....that takes me the further
13kms to the train (I have to walk 6kms to the bus, and it only runs
twice a DAY!!!)...my only mode of transport is the good will of friends
and neighbours. It's pretty sad when your neighbours beep from the road
and call out "Want anything from up the shops?" Added to that is the
bad blood it has created between me and my local community - I recently
found out that a lot of people think I was the driver in the accident!
:(
I have waited for 2 years to have the car fixed - in that time the guy
who crashed it bought the left front quarter panel, and the indicatior
housing - but what was still needed was the bonnet, the Aero front
bumper, one side of the Aero front quarter body kit, and the blakc
rubber molding around the Aero whale fin (that can be seperated from
the hard body of the fin, right?)
I even have a friend of a friend of a friend who will do the work at
mates of a mate of a mate's rates.
I just got a letter in the mail outlining my inclusion as one of the
creditors in my "friend's" application of BANKRUPCY!
:(......
Does anyone know of a scrap Aero in or around Malbourne? (I found one
on the naturestrip in Ringwood but I was too embarrassed to ask the
owners...two months later it was gone and they told me they sold it for
$50 for scrap! BLIMEY!).
I'm not having much luck!! I have called SAAB Wreck a number of times,
and they say they'll call if they get an Aero in...but they have never
called. Plus, being a girl - I have called there a few times and have
been quoted by different people $620, $550 and $300 for the bonnet
(which I believe can be any 900 bonnet) at various times - pick-a-part
quotes $35.
Any ideas???
Thank you!!!!
