2003 9-5 Arc (V6), 233k

Driving over to work this morning when I felt a slight stumble/surge on the Tappan Zee bridge. No warning lights, kept running smooth. 10 miles later, happened again, and started happening more often. Was able to get off the Thruway, and on local roads heading toward my office, when I got the dreaded CEL and then flashing. Nursed it about a mile to Ramsey Volvo (formerly Saab) which is across street from work. Service is open on Saturdays, and one of the old Saab guys was working. Both DICs were failing.

I was able to order the 2 Wells DICs from Autozone, with a 20% coupon and expedited shipping to my office for $495. My other online sources were in the high-$300 to low 400 each, and the dealer was appalled that they would be over $500 each.

Just was glad it didn't happen in bad weather or where I would have had to tow the car.

Was surprised it came on so suddenly, unless I had been missing occasional stumbles in recent weeks.
