trying out E Europarts lifetime warranty w/ a 9-5 waterpump  1 Saabers Like This Post!

The water pump on the 01' 9-5 died and as I had heard reports fr saabistas' that they were having to replace the pump frequently (like nearly on a yearly basis !) I thought this was a good chance to try it out the new E Europarts parts warrantied for life for Diy' ers? we sure put pumps and cooling systems under stress here in the desert ! the 4 pumps ranged in price from $27 to $55 (various manufacturers ) and the warrantied for life (OEM ) was $ 62 Now, how I managed to pass up the siren song of a new water pump of unknown etiology and questionable provenance for only $5 on Craigslist is, I asked my brother to get it for me .He, is as unreliable as humanly possible because he has realized as Paul Theroux said: "Gain a modest reputation for being unreliable and you will never be asked to do a thing."
Well I did ask, but was not depressed when he failed to get it! We noticed that the Feb 2018 issue of Hot ROD magazine, had a scathing, piece "Auto parts that enrage " replete w/ Pathetic, pitiful, pithy anecdotal examples where David Freiburger was bemoaning the lack of quality on aftermarket parts! Actually he gave assurance of an absolutely abysmal assemblance of aftermarket parts even a, arri-ere-bans ' artificer would be hard -pressed to put to rights ! to wit " In the past year I have had two stock replacement water pumps that had the impeller pressed on to the shaft in such a crooked way that the pump wouldn't even spin . I had another one that leaked through a porous aluminum housing casting, one w/a cockeyed and leaking seal " ! Well he makes the point that nearly ALL the parts were made and are sourced from overseas now . his prescription and partial solution for our deliverance from these purveyors of pretenders of being parts is that we insist on quality and return any deficient in design or execution ! and you DO have a better chance if you pony up for quality parts from Old guard companies EG Borg-warner, Moog , Standard Motor parts, ( and dare we say, OEM SAAB ? ) As the Old adage goes, "You get what you pay for" At least w/ the new scheme of lifetime parts for saabs you won't have to ever pay for a part again . PS as Jeremy, (post below this ) points out" FCP Euro also offers a lifetime warranty on parts." and I contacted them, Yes and ANY parts ! not just OEM Saab ANY part! AND even wear parts like wipers, brake pads, etc ! w/ BOTH vendors you have to return the bad /used up parts to obtain a credit/ refund (they have a 24 hour nanny -type web cam in their returns dept ! )but can order the new part if you are in a hurry and send the used. old part back later! So, if you are feeling lucky, you can buy a cheaper pattern part (from FCP euro) of another maker and it will STILL have a lifetime warranty either a 27$ pump or a 62$ one! consumer choice! NEW INFO ! as per FCP euro they do not have access to all Saab parts ONLY those on their site! So, that limits their usefulness I'm afraid!
